The Pratt Attack

Tulane Football quarterback and Team Captain Michael Pratt helped lead the biggest one-year turn around in NCAA history, guiding the Green Wave back from a 2-10 campaign in 2021 to a 12-2 finish to the 2022 season.

Along the way, his Tulane team won their first game against a ranked opponent since 1984, and earned road victories against the Big 12 Champion K-State Wildcats and 2021 playoff participant Cincinnati.

Pratt's leadership and incredible will to win was exemplified in the Cotton Bowl. Trailing by 15 points with 4:30 remaining, Pratt guided the Green Wave to one of the most improbable comeback victories in history, tossing the final touchdown with seconds remaining, winning 46-45 and securing a final #9 national ranking.

Maddy Hudak Tulane Sideline Reporter

"Michael Pratt has looked better than I’ve seen. The fact that he was homeschooled up until 9th grade and didn’t play football until high school. That’s astonishing to play quarterback at this level and out duel Caleb Williams when he needed to. Just looking at the Cotton Bowl drive. One minute left, no time outs. They’re down both starting tight ends. They lose Duece Watts who’s their biggest threat at WR. He uses his legs very smartly and trusts Alex Bauman to make that catch who’s now TE1 for a reason. That’s mental toughness."

Mike Farrell The Godfather of Recruiting

"He's so smart when it comes to when to run and when to go through progressions, and he takes care of the football. 27 touchdowns and only 5 picks last season (2022) is epic."

Crissy Froyd Reporter for Sports Illustrated

"The Heisman Trophy defines its ideal award winner in its mission statement that describes the candidate it is awarded to the most outstanding college football player in the country whose performance epitomizes great ability combined with diligence, perseverance and hard work... And that is everything that is the essence of Michael Pratt."

Steve Helwick Writer for Underdog Dynasty

"A quick glance at the box score doesn’t do justice on how extraordinary and gutsy Pratt was in the Cotton Bowl. Excluding sack yardage, the quarterback rushed for 103 yards on USC defense, and three of those runs generated key first downs. Pratt isn’t the fastest quarterback in the conference, but the toughness he exhibits every time he tucks the ball makes him a more-than-viable rushing threat."
